A Cinderella issue ? Promoting school menstrual health management awareness in Sri Lanka
Sri Lanka Water Partnership and NetWwater (Network of Women Water Professionals), a partner of Global Water Partnership, have been at the forefront of gender and water advocacy in Sri Lanka. They have been working in school awareness programs through “SisuJalaHamuwa” for more than fifteen years and have also played a lead role in taking Sri Lankan issues to SACOSAN programs and World Water Day activities. They have advocated that sustainable sanitation goes beyond the mere provision of facilities, and called for a change in the sanitation culture where hygiene awareness, maintenance and regular cleansing systems are put in place along with the new or upgraded facilities. SLWP Senior Advisor delivers keynote at The 21st International convention of the Soroptimists International
The 21st International convention of the Soroptimists International was held in Kuala Lumpur Conference Centre on 19-21st July with more than 1000 global representatives . Ms Kusum Athukorala , Snr. Advisor Sri Lanka Water Partnership delivered the key note address on the theme Women Water and Food Security” and participated in the subsequent panels on climate change and womens health.
Strengthening Integrated Water Resources Management in Sri Lanka
SLWP Country Coordinator Mr. Ranjith Ratnayake participated on above programme held in Colombo on 8th August.
The specific discussion was held with the involvement of a multi-disciplinary team represented by national and international water technocrats, to initiate developing a Terms of Reference (ToR) for SIWRM Consultancy by defining the entry points for consultancy interventions, which will be most effective in tackling the present less efficient approach to water resources management in Sri Lanka.
