A dedicated Water and Climate Resilience Programme (WACREP) for South Asia on Climate Change Adaptation initiated in 2013 and financed through a GWP/Donor funding arrangement. The Sri Lanka component focuses on CC impacts on irrigated agriculture and rural livelihoods including availability of drinking water. Promotion of technology options and best practices whilst strengthening capacities of agencies and communities to cope with CC are major thrusts under this programme.
